Gold medal for women’s biathlon goes to Russia and Anna Bogaly-Titovets

Anna Bogaly-Titovets in the team of four took the gold medal yesterday at the women’s biathlon 4×6km relay.

Born in Vologda, Anna started her sport career in Murmansk. Here she learned skiing at Children’s and Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve. This is a second Olympic medal for Anna since 2006 at the gold-winning relay race in Italian city of Turin.

The day before, a bronze medal in sprint skiing was won by Alexey Petukhov, a citizen of Murmansk. This is not the first Olympics when Murmansk sportsmen do their best. Starting from 1972 and Lyubov Mukhacheva (Apatity), the Murmansk region has entered Olympics chronicles. 1992 was a success for Sergey Bautin (Murmansk) in the national hockey team. Valery Kirienko (Murmansk) took silver in 1992 and 1994. Sergey Fedorov (Apatity) was awarded two times in 1998 (Nagano) and 2002 (Salt Lake City) in hockey.
