Steering committee was established for VI annual international conference Cross-Border Cooperation: Russian Federation, European Union and Norway

February 5, there was held a first session of a steering committee for the annual conference to discuss the agenda, venue, funds required, participants, an advisory council and other administrative issues. The event is planned for June 2010.

The annual series of conferences started in 2005 to highlight cross-border cooperation between the Russian Federation, the European Union and Norway.

Earlier, the conferences were held in St-Petersburg, Petrozavodsk, Kaliningrad, and Pskov. The committee is headed by Ilya Klebanov, a plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation in Northwest Federal District, informs the official website of Karelian Republic.

Petrozavodsk, as a new venue for the conference was chosen to commemorate the jubilee of Karelia that has enjoyed an independent federal status (statehood) for 90 years so far.
