Tuesday, 23 June

Murmansk office of Consulate General of Finland held a farewell party for its consul, Ms. Pirkko Mäkikokkilalle. After two years of work in Murmansk, she is transferred to work in Helsinki.

Wednesday, 24 June

Murmanshelf held a general meeting to discuss its plans and elect the board. The only representative of a foreign company at the board is Mr. Torkeld Reinertsen. Besides, Mr. Straty (the director general of the association) will be a part of the coordination council on industry and business at the United Russia regional office.

Thursday, 25 June

700 tourists from Great Britain came to Murmansk on Braemar (passenger liner) travelling through Kirkenes.

Murmansk Minister of Construction and Territory Development, Mr. Vitaly Mezhenin tendered his resignation.

Friday, 26 June

MARPI was freed of legal accusations. Earlier, MARPI as a leading Murmansk monopoly distributor of publishing materials (magazines and newspapers) was accused of artificial evaluation of prices.

Weekend, 26-27 June

Murmansk is celebrating a Day of Youth. The holiday is celebrated Russia-wide annually on 27 of June since 1993, yet usually shifted to last Sunday of June. The sport events will start at 10.00 and will be held mainly at Five Square Corner Street and along Lenina Avenue. Evening is an open-air disco.
