Black Congressman Calling For Trump's Impeachment Receives Lynching Threats [Voice Messages]

U.S. Rep. Al Green has received multiple voice mails, containing racial slurs and lynching threats, for calling U.S. President Donald Trump to be impeached. The Texas congressman played the recording to an audience of around 100 in a Houston town hall, Huffington Post reports. Representative Green has also posted the voice recordings on his YouTube channel. The videos have been attached below. Warning! Contains strong language. “Hey Al Green, we’ve got an impeachment for you. It’s going to be yours. It’s actually going to give you a short trial before we hang your n****r ass.” “We’ll lynch all you f***in’ n*****s. You’ll be hanging from a tree.” Speaking in the same Town Hall event, Rep. Al Green made it clear that these threats would not stop him from calling for Trumps impeachment. “It does not deter us. We are not going to be intimidated. We are not going to allow this to cause us to deviate from what we believe to be the right thing to do, and that is to proceed with the impeachment of President Trump.” Green however later, speaking with MSNBC host Joy Reid, claimed that he had taken the threats quite seriously and that extreme security measures had been taken for the town hall event. “When people say that they will lynch you, I think you have to take that seriously.” [Featured Image by Pat Sullivan/AP Images]
