I would like to focus on and ridicule the language issue that stuck in our heads… Innovation – what is that? Haven’t we killed the word using it so many times…!? Does anybody know what incubator (business incubator!!!) might mean to a person who definitely thinks that the orator comes from a different planet. Infrastructure… oh god… this is a proper word to be pompously used in any business-related power-point presentation. We should update our vocabulary or am I wrong?

Those words really lost their initial value. People got tired of them. But what can we do? Just go on and use them more and more till everybody gets sick and stop using these words! The other problem is that such words as “infrastructure” or “innovation” have a lot of meanings. So every discussion should actually start with the determination – what the word means in this context of every specific discussion.

Infrastructure can be defined as the basic physical and organizational structures needed for the operation of a society or enterprise, or the services and facilities necessary for an economy to function (Wiki definition).
The term innovation means a new way of doing something. It may refer to incremental, radical, and revolutionary changes in thinking, products, processes, or organizations (Wiki definition comes again).
My idea is that we sometimes pile up these “important” words to sound as important as possible (AIAP) ...
And we should fight for the clarity of our ideas. Just to avoid “faster growth of business and technology or commercial innovation that is future-oriented and based on sustainable development”...

“Infrastructure can be defined as the basic physical and organizational structures needed for the operation of a society or enterprise, or the services and facilities necessary for an economy to function” – try to use this definition 30-35 times during one 20 munites presentation instead of “innovation” and you’ll agree that it’s easier to use one word instead of 31. As for using the “important” words for covering lack or absence of content in the speech… It’s not a linguistic problem. When you find other words for the phenomena or subjects and they’ll become popular consultants and other pretenders will start to use them instead of “innovation”, “infrastructure” etc.
